Hi, I’m Matt for Math! I’ve been a math teacher for 15 years and an online tutor for most of the last ten. I left a career in media analysis, stayed home to raise my kids, coached soccer and lacrosse teams, and became an NJ certified middle school and high school mathematics teacher to satisfy my lifelong love of numbers and ability to connect with and motivate young people.
I’m an alumnus of Delbarton School and George Washington University and have teacher certification through Caldwell University and Montclair State University and am a Google Certified Level 1 instructor.
I taught middle school math at a handful of schools until a friend at Bergen Community College offered me a position to teach basic math to those failing the placement test and two algebra classes, one for liberal arts majors and one for math/science majors. This experience opened my mind to how a thoughtful teacher/student relationship can make all the difference in education, something I found lacking in both my public and private school experiences.
Outside of mathematics my hobbies include playing guitar, watching live music, travel, plants, cooking, hiking, restaurants, and my dog Murphy.
